Welcome to the first post of the Halifax Game Collective Archive blog. This blog will have posts highlighting the games and other items acquired for the archive, as well as Nova Scotian video game development history.
This week we received a package from Limited Run Games with the Eskimo Bob & Alfonzo's Arctic Adventure Dual Pack, two homebrew games on NES cartridges created by Tomas Guinan of Truro. They were developed under their studio Spoony Bard Productions. Each game is based on their early 2000's web animation series "Eskimo Bob".
The games included are "Eskimo Bob" and "Alfonzo's Arctic Adventure", 8-bit arcade-style puzzle-platformers. Both game cartridges can be played on original Nintendo Entertainment System hardware. The games are also available digitally on Steam, Nintendo eShop, Xbox and Itch.io.
Through Spoony Bard Productions and The MIX Games, Guinan has worked on other NES games such as GALF, Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl, and the upcoming Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland.
